WHO ARE YOU?
We are not your typical wedding DJs. We perform at hundreds of events throughout the year and hold residencies at some of the top clubs in Ann Arbor and Detroit. We draw from our experience and diverse musical library to create a musical soundtrack that is both fun and a reflection of you! The Haute Knot boasts a long list of thrilled clients because our DJs are some of the best in Southeast Michigan.
WHAT’S INCLUDED WHEN WE BOOK YOU?
We offer four different packages that are carefully crafted to provide exactly what you need to create a perfect wedding day soundtrack including an audio system, DJ equipment and wireless microphone for your use.
We also provide two consultations in which we partner with you to and organize the events throughout the day as well as your preferred music for each moment. From there, we do all of the research and prep work regarding the music for your wedding and on the day we have everything at our fingertips and make sure each event flows smoothly into the next and all of your family and friends are having a great time.
WE LIKE WHAT WE’RE HEARING! HOW CAN WE BOOK YOU?
You give us your date, venue and number of guests and if we have availability, then we’ll provide you with an exact quote. We’ll set up a consultation between you and your DJ. During that meeting you’ll discuss the plan for your event, musical likes and dislikes, questions, and equipment that is needed. If you like what you hear, we’ll provide the contract and you’ll sign it and pay a 50% deposit. At this point you’re locked into our calendar!
After the booking is complete, you will have the opportunity to work on a wedding worksheet to outline specifics. Your DJ will be available by phone, email and FaceTime to assist with anything you need regarding the music for your big day! We will set up a final consultation 10-14 days before the event to solidify the details, and then we take it from there!
DO YOU TAKE REQUESTS MADE BY GUESTS AT THE EVENT?
Most of the time we do! However, we take a couple things into account when someone makes a request. First and foremost, does the song that’s being requested fit in line with the rest of the soundtrack YOU worked with your DJ to curate? Secondly, who is making the request? We take that a request from a close relative or friend a lot more seriously than a request for the cha cha slide when you’ve specifically stated you didn’t want group line dances at your wedding.
As your DJ, we are your representative. We work hard to learn about what you’re perfect wedding sounds like and you have entrusted us to make great decisions throughout the evening. We do our best to make the right each time someone makes a request.
CAN WE BIVE OUR DJ A LIST OF SPECIFIC SONGS WE’D LIKE THE DJ TO PLAY, OR DO YOU DECIDE THE MUSIC FOR OUR WEDDING?
We love to partner with our clients to create a musical atmosphere that is exactly what you’ve always imagined. Our role varies from couple to couple yet we are absolutely available and happy to be as involved as you would like us to be.

HOW DETAILED SHOULD WE BE ON OUR MUSIC WORKSHEET?
We have had clients who were extremely involved in the planning process and created entire Spotify playlists for the dinner and cocktail hours, while other clients selected just a few specific songs and left the rest up to us. We are completely comfortable with either situation and are here to make this process as fun and stress-free for you as possible, whatever that may be!
WILL THE DJ ALSO ACT AS THE MC/MASTER OF CEREMONIES?
Your DJ will also be your master of ceremonies and speak when necessary throughout the night. She will make sure each moment flows smoothly into the next and make sure you are on schedule so you can sit back and enjoy the party!
If you have a wedding coordinator, we are happy to speak with them and discuss details as needed. If you do not have a coordinator, we’re happy to assist in creating and guiding you through the wedding day itinerary.
CAN YOU PROVIDE A MICROPHONE AND SOUND SYSTEM FOR OUR CEREMONY?
Yes we can! We offer an a la carte ceremony service package that includes sound equipment, a wireless mic and stand. We are onsite to cue the music and the bridal party for the ceremony and make sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT SHOULD THE DJ ARRIVE AT THE VENUE?
We’ll arrive 1.5 to 2 hours prior to every wedding and allocate extra time as needed depending on the needs of the event and the venue.
DO YOU HAVE BACKUP EQUIPMENT?
Absolutely! We carry backup DJ equipment as well as backup music libraries just in case. Rest assured we are well prepared for any unforeseen issues that may arise.
DO YOU CHARGE FOR SET UP OR BREAKDOWN?
We do not charge you for setup or breakdown. That’s on our own time!
WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY?
After over 5 years in business, The Haute Knot has never missed a wedding! However, if something catastrophic were to happen and your DJ was unable to performa at your wedding, we have a handful of amazing DJs we know and trust on call. No matter what, someone from our team will be available to perform and your wedding will be amazing in spite of it all!
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
Absolutely! We have $1.5M per instance which is what most venues require. They also often require themselves to be added as additionally insured on the certificate, which we’re happy to do.
